Gwen Stefani joins Sandra Bullock in donating $1 million dollars to the Save the Children’s Japan Earthquake-Tsunami Children in Emergency Fund.

The No Doubt singer and L.A.M.B. fashion designer spoke of her donation in a statement to UsMagazine.com.

“I’ve been inspired by Japan for many years and have a true love, appreciation and respect for the Japanese people and their culture,” she said. “The disaster in Japan is beyond heartbreaking, and I want to do anything I can to help. I would never be able to make a gesture like this without the love and support of all the fans over all these years.”

During Stefani’s solo debut in 2004, she was very influenced by Japanese culture. On the red carpet, during performances and in her music video’s Stefani, 41, had an entourage of four Japanese Harajuku girls. The girls got their stage names from Stefani’s first solo album, Love. Angel. Music. Baby. (which also creates the acronym L.A.M.B. which stems from her clothing line). She later went on to create a product line  called Harajuku Lovers based on her Harajuku Girls which included everything from perfumes to shoes. Stefani also brought the Harajuku Girls over to her second solo album, The Sweet Escape.

She has also created an opportunity for her fans to donate as well. Next week a charity auction will be announced where fans can bid on a chance to join Stefani at a special fundraiser in Los Angeles. Also next week a limited edition Harajuku Lovers t-shirt designed by her will be available on Nodoubt.com. All proceeds will go to Japan relief efforts.
