Beauty on a BudgetLooking beautiful doesn’t have to break the bank. There are so many great products on the market that are easily accessible and at great prices. If money isn’t the issue and you’re just looking for a better bang for your buck then there are several stores that offer great incentive programs that add value for the consumer. The next time you shop you don’t have to feel guilty for those beauty splurges. Here are some products and places that feature beauty on a budget: Joe Fresh: Created by Joseph Mimran, who is Canadian design royalty, he is the co-founder of Club Monaco and the man behind Caban. He also contributes to the Pink Tartan clothing line designed by his wife, Kimberly. No stranger to the design industry, Joseph brought his creative designs in clothing and home fashion to us as Joe Fresh. Recently, they extended the brand into bath and cosmetics. The price points of these products are incredible, almost too good to be true. The line carries everything from foundation, blush, and lipstick to nail polish and beauty tools. Having tried several products, I am thoroughly impressed. There are 27 colours of eye shadow to choose from and they aren’t just basic colours but a great selection of bright unusual tones that are rich and highly pigmented; priced at $4 each.
A must try product is the matte lipstick in nude, priced at $6, this is a steal. Not to mention that there are always sales and promotions for this line and you can collect PC Points for the purchase. Nothing in the collection is over $14, so get shopping. e.l.f. Cosmetics: Which stands for eyes, lips, face was derived on the goal that beauty comes from within. Their philosophy is, “Beauty comes from feeling and being your best, an inner confidence that translates to the outer-world as attractiveness.” This is a company that believes quality ingredients and new technology should not be available to only prestigious brands. They offer an amazing product line that is not only appealing to the eye in the package but is also well known and widely acclaimed for its amazing quality outside of the packaging.
The most talked about product is their eyelash curler, on the US website this product is priced at $1! It is truly unbelievable. E.l.f. is not as easily available in Canada unless you regularly purchase online however you can find their products from time to time in Zellers, Giant Tiger and Winners. I found their Get the Look Kit – Smokey Eyes in both Giant Tiger and Winners priced at $6. This kit includes eye shadow, mascara, eye liner, the infamous eyelash curler and a smudge brush. The price shouldn’t scare you though because the product is really good and high quality. It is Peta-approved cruelty-free makeup. They ship to Canada for $14.95 per order and have shipping deals every so often. Get together with some friends and place an order. It’s totally worth it. Value-added stores: Shoppers Drug Mart and the newly opened Murale both support Shoppers Optimum Points on your purchases so not only can you find a great deal in store but you can collect points to use towards future purchases. Sephora also offers a rewards program, Beauty Insider that earns you a point for every dollar you spend and to sweeten the offer you get a special gift on your birthday. Last year, I got three Sephora lip glosses that are amazing, this year’s gift is an eye kit equipped with mascara, liner and shadow. Shopping the beauty section at your local Loblaws Superstore, you can collect your PC points towards free groceries. So if you are looking for that little extra special touch then start saving your points on these programs.
