Celebs Rockin’ Fall 2009 Hair Styles

The change of season always brings a slew of trends especially when it comes to fall.  Fashion Week in New York City, Paris and Milan from winter 2009 set the trends for the following fall. Moreover, what is most exciting about the looks they showed was that long hair is back and is among one of the trendiest looks.  This is thrilling for those with long locks because in recent years long hairdos seemed somewhat Rocker Fringeblah next to the sassy and sexy short cuts.  Also 80’s are back in a big way, no pun intended but big hair is back, long waves and more.

The Rocker Fringe – with the 80’s being back the Rocker Fringe is too.  There is no better time to test the waters and get a bang since they are super hot this year. It is a fabulous way to get a little edge while keeping length.

Ashley TisdaleThe Ponytail Craze – Ponytails are always the easy way to deal with a bad hair day but this year there is an edge to the classic look.  A change in the part has updated this style, parting your hair on the side and then slicking it back, you can keep that ponytail tight and sleek or let it go wild and crazy for a messier look.  Chignons, buns and twists Old hollywood wavesare also very popular on the runways.

Old Hollywood Waves – Glamorous side swept waves are shown on celebrities all over the place.  From beach waves to 70’s curls but they aren’t tight and structured they are more of a messy, finger combed curl with more texture than definition.

Big HairBIG Hair – It’s back in a big way whether you are wearing it loose like a lion’s mane or straight with backcombing or up like a bouffant.   Designers such as Christian Lacroix showed the straight look on the runway in the spring, obviously it is slightly exaggerated for the runway but we have seen celebrities sporting a more wearable do such as Madonna.  She has been seen at the MTV VMA’s and at various fashion shows in NYC with this look.

The Braid – Upgraded versions of the braid are making their rounds.  They are more sophisticated than the braid we wore as young girls; they are looser in most cases and again a bit messier.  Jennifer Lopez showed off what I think is one of the best braid styles of the season at the MTV VMA’s, she incorporated three trends, slicked back into a ponytail, it was braided half way and then loose and messy.

Taraji HensonShort Hairstyles – So far we are seeing a lot of pixie cuts like the one that Taraji Henson of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button fame is sporting. Michelle Williams is also showing off her latest  short and sassy on the October cover of Vogue.

Hair Accessories are still very popular with hair bands still being worn but they aren’t as preppy and conservative as in previous seasons they are adorned with studs and spikes for more of a rocker look.  I am in love with the spikes.  It is a great way to make straight hair look funky and to make a great fashion statement.  For hair color I keep hearing that natural is the way to go this season but as always with fashion all of this is just what is popular and trendy.  At the end of the day not all trends will look good on everyone so do what you feel is best.   The best look of all is to look like you, be natural and be confident.
